गाजर घास को कांग्रेस घास क्यो कहा जाता है?

गाजर घास के साथ मेरे दो दशक (भाग-2)

इन दो दशको मे कई सरकारे बदल गयी। गाजर घास पर व्याख्यान देने मै देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सो मे गया। लोग अक्सर पूछा करते थे कि इसे काँग्रेस वीड क्यो कहा जाता है? इस नाम को मेरे व्याख्यान के दौरान सुनकर कांग्रेस के राजनीतिक विरोधियो के चेहरे पर मुस्कान आ जाती थी। वे कई बार इसे गाजर घास न कहकर ‘कांग्रेसीयो की घास’ कहते थे। मै बडी अजीब स्थिति मे होता था। अब गाजर घास तो किसी पार्टी से ताल्लुक नही रखती है ठीक मच्छरो की तरह। उससे तो देश की सभी पार्टियो के नेता और कार्यकर्ता प्रभावित होते है। कोई भेदभाव नही होता। मैने गाजर घास पर केन्द्रित अपने अंतरराष्ट्रीय ग्रुप मे जब दुनिया भर के विशेषज्ञो के सामने यह प्रश्न रखा तो बडे ही विचित्र उत्तर आये। किसी ने कहा कि यह अमेरिका से पीएल 480 योजना के तहत आयात किये गये गये गेहूँ के साथ भारत आयी और उस समय चूँकि कांग्रेस की सरकार थी इसलिये इसे कांग्रेस ग्रास का नाम मिला। कुछ ने कहा कि यह उसी तरह देश मे फैली जिस तरह एक समय कांग्रेस पार्टी फैली। ब्रिटेन के वैज्ञानिक हैरी इवांस ने तो लिख दिया कि संसद भवन परिसर मे काँग्रेस की इमारत गाजर घास की तरह है इसलिये इसका नाम कांग्रेस घास पडा (Parthenium is called Congress Weed in India because it is having a similar structure like the Congress building in Parliament
Annexe, New Delhi.). मुझे तो इनमे से कोई तर्क नही जँचता। बहुत से वैज्ञानिक यह तर्क देते है कि समूह मे उगने के कारण इसे यह नाम मिला। यह तर्क अधिक ठोस लगता है।

बहुत कम लोग यह जानते है कि गाजर घास को एक साहित्यिक नाम भी मिला हुआ है। किसने यह नाम दिया इसका पता मुझे अभी तक नही चला है। यह नाम है चटक चाँदनी। इसके सफेद फूलो को देखकर हो सकता है किसी कवि ह्र्दय ने यह नाम सुझाया हो। यह नाम वैज्ञानिक दस्तावेजो तक ही सीमित है। इसका एक अंग्रेजी नाम व्हाइट टाप भी है। हो सकता है चटक चाँदनी इसका अनुवाद हो। यदि यह सच है तो फिर इसमे कोई दो राय नही कि अनुवादित नाम मूल नाम से ज्यादा सुन्दर है।

गाजर के समान पत्ती होने के कारण इसे गाजर घास कहा जाता है अन्यथा गाजर से इसका और कोई वास्ता नही है। पर इस ‘गाजर’ के कारण कभी=कभी रोचक वाक्ये हो जाते है। इन्दौर से निकलने वाली एक पत्रिका ने गाजर घास पर मेरा आलेख प्रकाशित किया। पर गाजर घास के चित्र की जगह गाजर का चित्र डाल दिया। मैने सम्पादक महोदय को फोन किया तो पता चला कि साज-सज्जा वाले केवल शीर्षक देखकर ही चित्र डाल देते है। चूँकि उसने गाजर सुना था इसलिये इसी का चित्र डाल दिया। उसे काफी डाँट पडी। पर इसका असर उल्टा हुआ। कुछ महिनो बाद पत्रिका मे गाजर के हलवे पर किसी का लेख छपा। इस बार चित्र तो नही डाला गया पर गाजर के आगे ‘गाजर घास का हलवा’ लिख दिया। अर्थ का अनर्थ हो गया।
