कौन जाने बेजुबान पशु कैसे निपटते होंगे जालिम मच्छरो से?

यह जानते हुये भी कि जान को खतरा है क्यो आवारा पशु सडक के बीचो-बीच बैठते है? काफी समय से मै इस प्रश्न का उत्तर खोज रहा हूँ। आम लोग इस बात पर गौर नही करते है पर यदि पशु कोई प्रक्रिया लगातार अपना रहे है इसका मतलब इसका भी कुछ विज्ञान होगा ही। बहुत से जानकारो ने बताया कि गाडियो विशेषकर ट्रको की आवाजाही से हवा का तेज थपेडा उन्हे पडता रहता है जिससे मच्छर उनके पास टिक नही पाते है। किनारो पर यह हवा नही मिलती है और साथ ही नाली होने के कारण मच्छर अधिक काटते है। जान जोखिम मे भले हो पर वे मच्छरो के लिये यह खतरा उठाते है।
हम सब मच्छरो की समस्या से ग्रस्त और त्रस्त है। पूरे देश मे इन्होने ताँडव मचा रखा है। पहले जंगली इलाके इससे सुरक्षित थे पर अब तो जंगलो मे भी मच्छरदानी की जरुरत होती है। आप-हम तो कई उपाय अपनाकर अपने आपको बचा लेते है पर क्या कभी आपने सोचा है कि जानवर कैसे अपनी रक्षा करते होंगे? उनके पास अगरबत्ती नही है फिर भी वे इनसे कैसे बचे रहते है? यह गहन शोध का विषय है और इससे हमे ऐसे उपाय मिल सकते है जो कि हमारे स्वास्थ्य को नुकसान पहुँचाये बगैर हमे मच्छरो से निपटने मे मदद कर सकते है।
मेरे घर मे तोता है। उसके सारे शरीर मे पंख है इसलिये उसे मच्छरो से कम परेशानी होनी चाहिये पर वह मच्छरो से बहुत परेशान रहता है। उसके पैरो के खुले पंख रहित भाग मे मच्छर काटते है। रात मे गहरी नींद मे भी वो अपने पंजो को हिलाता रहता है चाहे मच्छर हो या नही। वह कई मच्छरो को खा भी जाता है पर इससे असंख्य मच्छरो को कुछ फर्क नही पडता है। जब मच्छर आस-पास मंडराते है तब भी वह खीझ कर चिल्लाता है। उसकी यही आवाज हमे चौकस करती है कि अब मच्छर भगाने के उपाय करने का समय आ गया है। जब मानव की सुरक्षा मे रहने वाले तोते का यह हाल है तो सोचिये खुले मे रहने वाले तोते और नाना प्रकार की चिडिया कैसे अपनी रक्षा कर पा रही होंगी?
कीचड मे लोटने की प्रवृत्ति से बहुत से वन्य पशु अब भी मच्छरो से निपट लेते है पर माँसाहारियो को लगातार देखने वाले वन कर्मी बताते है कि उन्होने तेंदुओ को बहुत बार मच्छरो से परेशान होते देखा है। उनके पास शरीर को पल-पल मे हिलाने के अलावा कोई चारा नही होता है। वे बताते है कि शहरी इलाको मे बन्दरो को यह समस्या आती है। इसलिये वे अब ऊँचे पेडो का सहारा लेने लगे है। इन पेडो पर न तो मच्छर का डर रहता है और न ही आदमियो का। वैसे कुछ वनवासियो कहना है कि जिन पोखरो मे ड्रेगन फ्लाई नामक कीट प्रचुरता से होते है उनके आस-पास आराम करना वन्य पशु पसन्द करते है। यह कीट मच्छरो के लारवा और व्यस्क दोनो ही को खा जाता है।
डेयरी उद्योग से जुडे लोग दूध देने वाले पशुओ के लिये वही उपाय अपनाते है जो वे मनुष्यो के लिये अपनाते है। उन्हे पता है कि मच्छरो का प्रकोप कैसे उन्हे बहुत बडी हानि पहुँचा सकता है। दूध उत्पादन तो घटता ही है। साथ ही पशु भी चिडचिडे हो जाते है।
मच्छरो के बढने से मकडियो और छिपकलियो के तो जैसे सुनहरे दिन आ गये है। पर मुश्किल यह है कि हम इन दोनो को अपने घरो मे देखना नही चाहते है। पिछले कई सालो से उनके अध्ययन से मैने देखा है कि पहले उनके भोजन मे विविधता थी पर अब तो ये घरो मे केवल मच्छरो को ही खाने मे दिन बिताते है। यह भी शोध का विषय हो सकता है कि क्या मच्छर उनकी पोषण सम्बन्धी आवश्यकत्ता पूरी कर पा रहे है या इस नयी खुराक का दुष्प्रभाव उनके बच्चो पर पड रहा है?
आम लोगो के लिये ये सब बाते उतनी रुचिकर न हो पर जैव-विविधता और पर्यावरण के दृष्टिकोण से यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। मच्छरो के बढते आतंक को अनदेखा कर रहे योजनाकारो की आँखे इस लेख से कुछ खुल सकती है। किसी भी समस्या के दुष्प्रभावो के सभी पहलुओ से समझना जरुरी है। तभी इससे निपटने के लिये कारगर उपाय किये जा सकेंगे।
